Talk:The OEIS End-User License Agreement

2011

Below you see a copy of the protected article with minor modifications. I submitted a request for a CC-BY-NC SVG on commons:Commons:Graphic_Lab/Photography_workshop#CC-BY-NC for a nice icon. –Frank Ellermann 05:49, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Well, file:By-nc.svg exists now on Commons, but sadly the OEIS wiki has yet no InstantCommons to get it automatically. I'll try the stupid download+upload approach. Disadvantage, if the slightly invalid SVG on Commons is ever fixed the OEIS wiki will still use the manually uploaded version. –Frank Ellermann 09:11, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Creative Commons BY attribution Non-Commercial license

The OEIS is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial 3.0 license.

To satisfy the attribution requirements of that license (section 4(c)), attributions should credit The Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences and provide a URL to the main page http://oeis.org or to a specific sequence (e.g. http://oeis.org/A000108).

Commercial uses may be licensed by special arrangement with the OEIS Foundation Inc..

The text above is not more state of the art, but the CC-BY-NC SVG should be used on the page, just in case I uploaded a valid version (checked by validator.w3.org). –Frank Ellermann 03:00, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Meanwhile I'd know how to fix only syntactically "invalid" working SVGs—crippled by very old tools: Just let rsvg-convert convert SVG to SVG, garbage in, valid out. Only missing fonts could spoil the fun. And I'm more than 99% confident that commons:File:By-nc.svg already is valid. –Frank Ellermann (talk) 03:15, 14 March 2020 (EDT)
PoC||GTFO: svg2tiny.rex + svg2true.rex on GitHub. –Frank Ellermann (talk) 19:30, 16 March 2020 (EDT)

InstantCommons Configuration

From InstantCommons#Configuration:

For enabling InstantCommons in MediaWiki version 1.16 or later, it is sufficient to add the line

$wgUseInstantCommons = true;

to your LocalSettings.php (see $wgUseInstantCommons for details).

Categorization

I would suggest categorizing the following The OEIS End-User License Agreement in Category:The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences® (OEIS®).

Would some Administrator please edit the protected page The OEIS End-User License Agreement and remove {{Edit request}} here.
ACK, I've added Template:Edit request here, all wiki pages should be in at least one category is a perfectly sound goal. –Frank Ellermann (talk) 19:08, 16 March 2020 (EDT)

Link to license in http://oeis.org/stripped.gz header broken

The header of the http://oeis.org/stripped.gz file mentions

# Use of this content is governed by the

# OEIS End-User License: http://oeis.org/LICENSE

which is broken. It should probably be set to

http://oeis.org/wiki/The_OEIS_End-User_License_Agreement

I'm still trying to figure out where and how to report ordinary OEIS proper + OEIS wiki issues, it's definitely not on this talk page.;-) –Frank Ellermann (talk) 03:56, 14 March 2020 (EDT)
Forwarded to Community Portal#Two OEIS proper issues, let's see what happens. Up to four of six admins should be now also aware of your report. –Frank Ellermann (talk) 18:48, 16 March 2020 (EDT)
